WigWag: Payments for South African Merchants

Setting Up WigWag for FoxyCart

To use WigWag in either Test or Production, you’ll need a WigWag Account.

Sign up for a WigWag Account.

Planning to sell subscriptions? If so, you will need to contact the WigWag support team and request their “Card Consent” functionality be enabled for your account. Also take note of the Important Notes and Caveats section for subscription related information.

Once your account is created you can use your Test Credentials with Foxy Test Mode while you configure your store and website.

You can find your WigWag Test Credentials by clicking through to the Account page on the WigWag dashboard.


Currently WigWag enables payments only in ZAR. To configure Foxy to ZAR:

  1. Open the Foxy admin page
  2. Go to the Template Sets section
  3. Select “English locale for South Africa (Currency: ZAR: R)” as the locale for each template set that you will be using WigWag for
  4. Save the changes to your template set



Production

To enable live payments on WigWag you will need to verify your account. Completing verification will take under 15 minutes and consists of sharing a few key documents with WigWag.

You will also need to start a paid subscription for your Foxy store if you haven't already, which you can do from the dashboard of the Foxy administration.

Once you have a paid Foxy subscription and a verified WigWag account, you can configure live payments in Foxy with these steps:

  1. Navigate to the “payments” section of the Foxy admin
  2. Select “Live Servers” for the type of payment servers to use
  3. If it is selected, uncheck the “Let customers pay with a Credit or Debit Card” checkbox
  4. Copy your Live Credentials from your WigWag Dashboard
  5. Back in the Foxy admin payments page scroll down to the “Accept payments using your WigWag account” option and enable it if it isn't already
  6. Paste the Live Credentials in the appropriate fields
  7. Save the changes by clicking the “Update Payment Gateway” button

Important Notes and Caveats

Subscriptions and WigWag

If you plan to sell subscriptions through your Foxy store, you will need to have “Card Consent” functionality enabled in your WigWag account. You will need to contact their support to request that be enabled on your account before subscriptions will work on your Foxy store.

$0 Subscription Support

If you are planning to sell subscriptions, it's important to note that Wigwag are not currently able to support $0 payment requests through their card-consent API that Foxy users for subscription payments. This means that while you can utilise Foxy's subscription functionality through Wigwag, it does not currently support future-dated subscriptions, or subscription modifications (where the order total for today would be $0).

Redirect URL

To ensure that Foxy is able to redirect the user to the WigWag hosted payment page, you will need to add your Foxy checkout domain as a redirect URL within your WigWag account.

The redirect URL you will need to enter will look like https://mystore.foxycart.com/checkout, replacing the mystore with your own store subdomain. If you're using a custom store subdomain, your URL will look like https://secure.mydomain.com/checkout, replacing the secure.mydomain.com portion with your chosen custom subdomain.

To add a redirect URL:

  1. Open your WigWag dashboard and go to the Account page
  2. Scroll down to the Add Redirect URLs section under API Details
  3. Add the URL for your store's checkout as detailed above and click the “+” to save.
